Changes in glomerular filtration rate and outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation
American Heart Journal Jan 05, 2018
Fauchier L, et al. - In this study, the association of kidney function evolution with ischemic stroke (IS) /thromboembolism (TE), mortality and bleeding in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients was investigated. With worsening estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) >4.81 ml/min/1.73 m2, increased rates of IS/TE, mortality and bleeding were reported. In addition, worsening eGFR was identified as an independent predictor of IS/TE and of bleeding, and a better predictor of IS/TE than renal impairment in AF.
