Cardiovascular risk following metformin treatment in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: Results from meta-analysis
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice Feb 24, 2020
Zhang K, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the overall cardiovascular risk following metformin treatment in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus via performing a meta-analysis on 16 studies including 25 comparisons with 1,160,254 patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus and 701,843 patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus following metformin treatment. Outcomes suggest that metformin treatment in patients with T2DM was noted to be correlated with reduced cardiovascular risk, both with mortality and incidence. However, the final results may be potentially affected by the heterogeneity among studies.
