Blood pressure variability and risk of cardiovascular events and death in patients with hypertension and different baseline risks

Mehlum MH, et al. - Herein, the focus was to investigate whether blood pressure variability was associated with increased risk of cardiovascular events and death in hypertensive patients at different risk levels. Findings demonstrated that irrespective of baseline risk of cardiovascular events, higher visit-to-visit systolic blood pressure variability was related to increased risk of cardiovascular events in patients with hypertension. Stronger links were apparent in younger patients and in those with lower mean systolic blood pressure.
