Baseline characteristics and risk profiles of participants in the ISCHEMIA randomized clinical trial
JAMA Mar 04, 2019
Hochman JS, et al. - In this trial involving 8,518 patients, researchers characterized baseline features of patients enrolled and randomized in the International Study of Comparative Health Effectiveness With Medical and Invasive Approaches (ISCHEMIA) trial and assessed if stress imaging or nonimaging exercise tolerance test (ETT) qualification impacted risk profiles. Patients with stable ischemic heart disease (SIHD) with moderate or severe ischemia on stress testing were included in the ISCHEMIA trial. In most participants, blinded coronary computed tomography angiography was performed and reviewed by a core laboratory to exclude left main stenosis of at least 50% or no obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD). Compared to participants undergoing stress imaging, those undergoing ETT had a greater frequency of 3-vessel CAD, left anterior descending (LAD) and proximal LAD stenosis.
