Back disorder incidence and occupation in Denmark: A cross-sectional register- based study

European Spine Journal Apr 01, 2020

Wiben A, et al. - Researchers presented the occupational distribution of persons with incident back disorders and ascertained the incidence rate ratio (RR) for back pain amongst patients working in specific occupation groups. This study applied Danish registries to distinguish a sum of 20,921 employed persons with incidents back disorders aged 18–64 years in 2016 based on the inclusion criteria from the Danish Back Register. They calculated RR to investigate for differences in incident back disorder diagnoses across occupations. They utilized Pearson’s Chi-square test for evaluating the homogeneity in back disorder incidence across occupations. Firstly, research evaluated the occupational status and RR of back disorder incidence across occupation groups in Denmark. In the cross-sectional study, the distribution of back pain disorder incidents is weighted to occupation groups including hard physical activity. The data may be beneficial for recognizing work environment or pension reforms.
