Automated volumetric assessment of hepatocellular carcinoma response to sorafenib: A pilot study
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography May 22, 2019
Fuentes D, et al. - This retrospective study was compliant to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and approved by the institutional review board and intends to find out the practicability of automated volumetric quantification as an imaging biomarker in case of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) to evaluate the response for sorafenib while treatment. On 13 HCC patients, they performed pretherapy on manually labeled background liver, enhancing and nonenhancing tumor tissue and multiphasic computed tomography images posttherapy. The results were in favour of the automated volumetric analysis found viable tracking hepatocellular carcinoma response to sorafenib and this study found to be an excellent predictor of time to progression.
