Atrial fibrillation therapy and heart failure hospitalization in adults with tetralogy of Fallot
JACC: Clinical Electrophysiology May 25, 2019
Egbe AC, et al. - Among adults with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and documented atrial fibrillation identified from Mayo Adult Congenital Heart Disease database, researchers investigated whether a link existed between atrial fibrillation and heart failure (HF) hospitalization, and whether a lower incidence of HF hospitalization and mortality could be seen among patients who received rhythm control therapy. This study included overall 415 patients, of whom, 27 (7%) had 42 HF hospitalizations. According to the findings, a risk for HF hospitalization and mortality was conferred by atrial fibrillation in TOF patients. These adverse events were prevented with rhythm control therapy.
