Associations of muscle mass and strength with all-cause mortality among US older adults
Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise Oct 12, 2017
Li R, et al. - This article was written with the objective to prospectively analyze individual and the joint relationship of low muscle mass and low muscle strength with all-cause mortality in a nationally representative sample. The outcome of this study revealed that the low muscle strength was independently connected with the raised risk of all-cause mortality, regardless of muscle mass, metabolic syndrome (MetS), sedentary time, or leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) among US older adults, showing the significance of muscle strength in predicting aging-related health outcomes in older adults.
