Associations between serum albumin and serious non-AIDS events among people living with HIV

Ronit A, et al. - Given that lower serum albumin (sAlb) is associated with an increased risk of mortality among people living with HIV, the long-term association between sAlb and the risk of serious non-AIDS events (SNAEs) was assessed. Results from this prospective multinational cohort study, suggest that for SNAE, sAlb is a durable risk factor. With additional years of follow-up, the association did not disappear but was stronger for current smokers than for never smokers.
