Association of urine albumin excretion with incident heart failure hospitalization in community-dwelling adults
JACC: Heart Failure May 03, 2019
Bailey LN, et al. - In a total of 24,433 Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke study participants, researchers assessed the link between urinary albumin excretion and incident heart failure (HF) hospitalization. They stratified the results by race and HF subtype (preserved vs reduced ejection fraction). Participants were free of suspected HF at baseline and were followed-up for a median duration of 9.2 years. In community-dwelling black and white adults, a link was evident between higher albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) and greater risk of incident HF hospitalization. Findings revealed a greater magnitude of the link between ACR and HF with preserved ejection fraction than with HF with reduced ejection fraction.
