Association of search engine queries for chest pain with coronary heart disease epidemiology
JAMA Oct 27, 2018
Senecal C, et al. - Authors gauged the association of online symptom search for chest pain with prevalence of coronary heart disease (CHD). Findings suggested close relation of relative search frequency with CHD epidemiology. They noted probable important implications of this for search engines as a resource for patients. This was also seen as a potential early-detection mechanism for physicians moving forward. A morning peak for search between local time 6 am and 8 am was seen in diurnal variation, with an increase greater than 100% in peak searching hours, which remained consistent among the 3 countries studied.
