Association of dietary glycaemic index, glycaemic load, and total carbohydrates with incidence of type-2 diabetes in adults aged ≥ 40 years: The Multi-Rural Communities Cohort (MRCohort)
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice Feb 26, 2020
Kim SY, Woo HW, Lee YH, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to explore potential connections between the glycaemic index (GI), glycaemic load (GL), and carbohydrates and the incidence risk of T2D and the effect modification of obesity among Korean adults aged ≥ 40 years. Using a modified Poisson regression model, incidence rate ratios and 95% confidence intervals for T2D were estimated in 8,310 candidates. Findings suggested that GI can be positively linked to the incidence of T2D in women, especially in obese women. GI correlation with the risk of T2D incidence can also be positive, even in men with high waist circumference.
