Association of age with blood pressure across the lifespan in isolated Yanomami and Yekwana villages

Mueller NT, et al. - Researchers examined cohorts of Yanomami and Yekwana individuals in Venezuela, to determine the impact of age on blood pressure (BP) rise over time in isolated communities without Western exposure. A dogma of cardiology is that BP increases with age. Findings revealed that, only little evidence of an age-associated rise in BP has been reported in studies of non-Westernized adults from isolated hunter-gatherer peoples.
