Association of 25-hydroxyvitamin D with HDL-cholesterol and other cardiovascular risk biomarkers in subjects with non-cardiac chest pain
Lipids in Health and Disease Jan 31, 2019
Alkhatatbeh MJ, et al. – Given that vitamin D deficiency may be a modifiable cardiovascular risk factor, researchers examined the association of serum vitamin D and cardiovascular risk variables in patients with non-cardiac chest pain (NCCP). Study participants included 104 patients who had cardiac catheterization that did not reveal any cardiac origin for their chest pain. According to findings, low serum vitamin D could play a role in reducing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels and increasing hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and, thus, increase cardiovascular risk in patients with NCCP.
