Association between plant and animal protein intake and overall and cause- specific mortality
JAMA Sep 15, 2020
Huang J, Liao LM, Weinstein SJ, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate the correlations between overall mortality and cause-specific mortality and plant protein intake. Researchers conducted a prospective cohort study to examine data from 416,104 men and women in the US National Institutes of Health–AARP Diet and Health Study from 1995 to 2011. They evaluated data from October 2018 through April 2020. The evidence exhibited that higher plant protein intake was correlated with small reductions in the risk of overall and cardiovascular disease mortality in this large prospective cohort. The observation serves data that dietary modification in the choice of protein sources may affect health and longevity.
