Assessment of serum neopterin as an inflammatory and cardiovascular marker in type 1 and 2 diabetes complicated by diabetic foot syndrome: A comparative study
Clinical Diabetology Apr 11, 2018
Al-Nimer MS, et al. - Authors comparatively scrutinized the serum neopterin levels between type-1 (T1D) and type-2 diabetes (T2D) patients with diabetic foot syndrome (DFS). In addition, they aspired to investigate the link between serum neopterin levels and cardiometabolic risk factors, at the Centre of Diabetes Mellitus in Erbil, Iraq from 1st January to 31st December 2016. Findings unveiled substantially higher serum neopterin levels in T2D patients among subjects with DFS compared with T1D patients. No correlation was discovered between the neopterin levels with the grading of DFS. However, an invariable connection was found with the cardiometabolic risk factors.
