Assessment of risk of diabetes by using Indian Diabetic Risk Score (IDRS) in Indian population
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice Mar 03, 2020
Nagarathna R, et al. - This study was undertaken to determine if Indian Diabetic risk score (IDRS) effectively screen diabetic individuals in the Indian population. To obtain the score, two non-modifiable (age, family history) and two modifiable (waist circumference & physical activity) were used. Data reported that 40.9% of individuals in urban and rural regions were identified as high risk, known or newly diagnosed DM patients. Findings suggested that IDRS could identify 78.1% known diabetic patients as a high-risk group. Regression analysis showed that there is a significant positive correlation between IDRS and diabetes. Data show that IDRS is a good indicator of diabetic patients at high risk.
