Assessment of postoperative outcomes in spinal epidural abscess following surgical decompression
The Spine Journal Dec 13, 2018
Keller LJ, et al. - Authors evaluated the clinical outcomes of spinal epidural abscess (SEA) after surgical management. They also identified the patient-level factors that are related to outcomes following surgical decompression and removal of SEA. In a high percentage of SEA patients, surgical decompression can contribute to improving or maintaining Association Impairment Scale (AIS) scores. For poorer outcomes, the presence and duration of preoperative paresis are prognostic. Improved postoperative outcomes may be led by rapid surgical intervention before paresis develops. An estimation of probabilities of patients’ predischarge condition is enabled by this modeling tool.
