Assessment of glucose variability in subjects with prediabetes
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice Jun 02, 2019
Chakarova N, et al. - In patients with prediabetes, researchers evaluated glucose variability by means of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) by assessing 32 prediabetic subjects and 18 subjects with normal glucose tolerance (NGT). Using the NGSP certified method, HbA1c was measured. Prediabetes subjects had significantly higher anthropometric indices, fasting and 2-hour glucose values, HbA1c level, and mean interstitial concentration of glucose vs NGT subjects. According to findings, glucose variability in prediabetes is significantly increased and is an additional parameter even at these early stages of glucose dysregulation when assessing glucose homeostasis.
