Assessment of association between spino-pelvic parameters and outcomes following gluteus medius repair
Arthroscopy Apr 08, 2019
Saltzman BM, et al. - In patients undergoing gluteus medius repair, researchers assessed postoperative coronal/sagittal spinal plane and spinopelvic parameters and identified correlations between outcomes and the aforementioned spinopelvic variables. From a prospectively collected database, patients who received gluteus medius/minimus repair by a single surgeon between January 20, 2012, and November 25, 2015, were identified retrospectively. In patients with hip disorders, patients with scoliosis had lower rates of symptom improvement and ability to return to an active lifestyle. Furthermore, patients with positive sagittal plane deformity had lower hip-related sport-specific outcome scores. While the direct relationship between the spine and hip remains unclear in patients following gluteus medius/minimus repair, this investigation shows a link between these postoperative results and spinopelvic parameters.
