Apolipoprotein E genetic variants interact with Mediterranean diet to modulate postprandial hypertriglyceridemia in coronary heart disease patients, CORDIOPREV study
European Journal of Clinical Investigation Jun 10, 2019
Perez-Martinez P, et al. - Through the CORDIOPREV study on 506 coronary heart disease (CHD) patients, the researchers intended to explore the interaction possibilities among long-term consumption of two healthy dietary patterns, low-fat diet or Mediterranean diet and apolipoprotein E (APOE), and single nucleotide polymorphisms modulating postprandial hypertriglyceridemia (ppHTG). A more significant decrease in T-allele carriers in postprandial triglycerides and large triacylglycerol-rich lipoproteins in the MedDiet group was noted in comparison to CC subjects. The ppHTG via APOE genetic variants in CHD patients can be modulated by long-term consumption of a MedDiet.
