Antibiotic ointment vs a silver-based dressing for children with extremity burns: A randomized controlled study

Choi YM, et al. - Researchers performed a comparison between the standard ointment-based primary layer vs Mepitel Ag (Mölnlycke Health Care, Gothenburg, Sweden) in the management of pediatric upper and lower extremity burn wounds. They analyzed 96 children with 113 upper or lower extremity burns and identified a significantly increased rate of wound healing in relation to the standard ointment-based dressing compared to Mepitel Ag for pediatric extremity burn injuries.
