An international, multicenter, comparative trial of EUS-guided gastrogastrostomy-assisted ERCP vs enteroscopy-assisted ERCP in patients with Roux-en-Y gastric bypass anatomy
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy May 10, 2018
Bukhari M, et al. - Authors sought to compare the procedural outcomes and adverse events (AEs) between EUS-guided gastrogastrostomy-assisted ERCP (EUS-GG-ERCP) and enteroscopy assisted ERCP (e-ERCP) in patients with Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). They enrolled subjects with RYGB anatomy who underwent EUS-GG-ERCP or e-ERCP between 2014 and 2016 at 5 tertiary centers. In contrast with the e-ERCP group, the technical success rate was substantially higher in the EUS-GG-ERCP. Furthermore, it was determined that the total procedure time was markedly shorter in patients who underwent EUS-GG-ERCP. The inference drawn was that EUS-GG-ERCP could be superior to e-ERCP in patients with RYGB anatomy with regard to a higher technical success and shorter procedural times. It displayed a similar safety profile.
