Alterations in ERBB2 and BRCA and microsatellite instability as new personalized treatment options in small bowel carcinoma

Quaas A, et al. - In this investigation, eleven small bowel carcinomas focusing on individualized treatment options and DNA- repair deficiency, including BRCA mutations, were analyzed. Researchers found potentially treatable genetic alterations in five of eleven small bowel carcinomas. In particular, the results highlighted the relevance of potentially treatable molecular alterations (such as ERBB2, BRCA and microsatellite-instability [MSI]) in small bowel carcinomas. They have not found any gene fusions.
