Alcohol consumption and risk of gastric cardia adenocarcinoma and gastric noncardia adenocarcinoma: A 16-year prospective analysis from the NIH-AARP diet and health cohort
International Journal of Cancer Nov 20, 2018
Wang SM, et al. - In order to clarify the role of alcoholic beverages in the etiology of gastric cancer, the associations of alcohol consumption with gastric cardia adenocarcinoma (GCA) and gastric noncardia adenocarcinoma (GNCA) were prospectively investigated in 490,605 adults, aged 50–71 years at baseline who participated in the NIH-AARP diet and health study. This large U.S. cohort revealed no association of alcohol consumption with increased risk of GCA or GNCA. However, compared to nondrinkers, participants who drank up to one drink per day displayed a lower risk of GNCA.
