Adenovirus associated with acute diarrhea: A case-control study
BMC Infectious Diseases Sep 07, 2018
Qiu FZ, et al. - In the present preliminary study, researchers investigated the relationship between non-enteric Human adenoviruses (HAdV) and diarrhea via performing a case-control study involving 273 children who presented diarrheal disease and 361 healthy children matched control in Children’s hospital of Hebei Province (China). They detected and quantified HAdV using quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and serotyped these by sequencing and phylogenetic analysis. Diarrhea and healthy children displayed the presence of a high diversity of HAdV, indicating an association of non-enteric HAdV3 with diarrhea.
