Adductor canal block with a suture-method catheter – A parallel or perpendicular approach?
Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Mar 01, 2019
Lyngeraa TS, et al. - Via this randomized blinded pilot study performed in 16 healthy volunteers, researchers investigated the feasibility of placing a suture-method catheter in the adductor canal with two different insertion techniques. A suture-method catheter was placed approximately halfway between the superior anterior iliac spine and base of the patella in both legs of each volunteer. In one leg, they used a parallel technique for placing the catheters and in the other leg, they used a perpendicular technique, according to randomization. As per outcomes, both techniques for placing the suture-method catheter in the adductor canal were identified efficacious with high success rates for initial placement.
