Acute effects of air pollution on ischaemic stroke onset and deaths: A time-series study in Changzhou, China
BMJ Open Jul 26, 2018
Dong H, et al. - This was the first comprehensive study in China that examined the acute effect of air pollutants on ischemic stroke (IS) and IS-related death. In this population-based time-series study, 32,840 IS cases and 4,028 IS deaths were identified in Changzhou from 2015 to 2016. Researchers reported that short-term exposure to ambient nitrogen dioxide was linked to increased IS risk, and that sulfur dioxide was associated with increased IS onset and death.
