Acute and long-term results of bipolar radiofrequency catheter ablation of refractory ventricular arrhythmias of deep intramural origin
Heart Rhythm May 03, 2020
Igarashi M, Nogami A, Fukamizu S, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate the efficacy and safety of bipolar radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) in treating refractory ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) during long-term follow-up. Researchers retrospectively evaluated a total of 18 patients who had undergone bipolar RFCA for ventricular tachycardia (VT) at 7 institutions. They focused the interventricular septum, left ventricular free wall, and left ventricular summit for bipolar RFCA. Bipolar RFCA was found to be beneficial in the acute suppression of refractory VT. The study found a significant reduction in VT burden while VT recurrence rates during long-term follow-up were relatively high.
