Acetabular retroversion is a risk factor for less optimal outcome after femoroacetabular impingement surgery
Journal of Arthroplasty Apr 06, 2019
Vahedi H, et al. - Researchers examined 51 cases to evaluate the consequence of mini-open femoroacetabular osteoplasty (FAO) in participants with acetabular retroversion vs subjects without acetabular retroversion. They did not observe any difference in the mean preoperative Short-Form 36 Health Survey and modified Harris hip score between the cohorts. But, they found a significantly lower value of the mean modified Harris hip score and Short-Form 36 Health Survey in the retroversion group (75.4 and 76.5) vs control (83.4 and 85.6) at the latest follow-up. A higher percentage of failure among retroversion cases (13.7%) was reported when compared to the control (2.5%).
