Acceptability of blood-based HIV self-testing among adolescents aged 15–19 years at risk of HIV acquisition in Bangkok
International Journal of STD & AIDS May 02, 2021
Phongphiew P, Songtaweesin WN, Paiboon N, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for evaluating the acceptability and feasibility of blood-based HIV self-test (HIVST) use in adolescents. A cross-sectional study was performed among young men who have sex with men and young transgender women aged 15–19 years with HIV acquisition risk. Ninety adolescents were recruited between July and September 2020. The results revealed that HIVSTs are acceptable in HIV at-risk adolescents. Findings suggested that blood-based HIVSTs should be positioned as rapid point-of-care tests with real-time linkage to HIV services.
