A pilot study in intraparenchymal therapy delivery in the prostate: A comparison of delivery with a porous needle vs standard needle
BMC Urology Aug 02, 2018
Brady ML, et al. - Considering the need to understand how distribution of injected therapies is impacted by anatomy, physiology, and device design, researchers tested a needle with a porous length of customizable-length and compared its performance with a standard needle in these cases. Findings revealed the anatomic heterogenicity of prostatic tissue and how it limits the distribution of needle injection. In the ex-vivo prostate using a porous needle, they noted a greater distribution. Therapy will be enhanced by preoperative imaging and pre-treatment planning, as suggested by the complexity of intraprostatic flow pathways.
