A novel predictor of clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure with preserved left-ventricular ejection fraction: A pilot study
Heart and Vessels Dec 05, 2018
Kanda T, et al. - Researchers aimed at proposing a novel echocardiographic index for predicting the outcomes of patients with heart failure with preserved left-ventricular ejection fraction (HFpEF). Consecutive 80 HFpEF patients were made to undergo echocardiography including E/e′/SV [ratio of early diastolic transmitral flow velocity to early diastolic myocardial velocity (E/e′)/stroke volume (SV)] measurement at discharge in index hospitalization due to HF. Readmission for heart failure and cardiovascular death at 1 year after discharge were included as the endpoints. Outcomes revealed that for patients with HFpEF, clinical outcomes could be potentially predicted using E/e′/SV.
