A nomogram predicting the prognosis of young adult patients diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma: A population-based analysis

Kong J, et al. - Employing the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, researchers screened young adult patients diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) to determine the clinical characteristics and outcomes of HCC in patients younger than 40 years of age. They constructed a nomogram to predict the prognosis of young HCC patients based on the multivariate analysis results. After screening, the analysis finally included 808 HCC patients with the mean follow-up time of 25.0±34.0 months; these patients were randomly separated into two groups (primary set and validation set). Independent prognostic factors were gender, race, alpha fetoprotein level, Edmondson–Steiner classification, treatment and TNM stage and integration of these factors was done into the nomogram.
