A cross sectional single institution study of quality of life in adult patients with spina bifida
Neurourology and Urodynamics May 09, 2018
Coco CT, et al. - Authors ascertained and compared the differences in perception of independence, urinary continence, and quality of life in an adult spina bifida (SB) population. In congenital NGB patients, assessing QoL was a complex task. Decreased spinal cord independence measure (SCIM) scores were seen in patients who underwent bladder augmentation (BA) and antegrade continence enema (ACE). In patients who did not receive a BA independent of ACE status, SCIM scores for BA patients were significantly higher. In those who underwent procedures vs those who did not, SF-8 and international consultation of incontinence questionnaire (ICIQ) scores did not show any statistically significant difference in the quality of life survey scores.
