European Journal of Cancer Prevention Apr 05, 2019
Katsidzira L, et al. - In this community based case–control study, researchers investigated the risk factors related to colorectal cancer in Zimbabwe. For this investigation, a total of 101 cases of colorectal cancer and 202 controls, matched for age, sex and domicile, were selected. Family history, socioeconomic status, urbanization, diabetes mellitus and previous schistosomiasis were the potential risk factors that were assessed. The odds ratios related to the different factors were calculated using conditional logistic regression. According to the findings, the predominant associations with colorectal cancer in Africans were family history, diabetes mellitus, previous schistosomiasis and approximation to a western lifestyle.
